Yandaro Washing Station was built in 1986 in the Kabarore Commune in the Kayanza province. Farmers used to bring their herds of cows to the river in this area to wash them and built bee-hive shaped houses close to the river to sleep in. These houses are called indaro in the local language, which means "lodging", and is where the name 'Yandaro' comes from.
Yandaro collects cherries from over 3,000 local coffee farmers spread over 22 neighbouring colonies and processes more than 1,200 tons of coffee during the harvest season. In the last decade, Yandaro has placed in the finals of the Cup of Excellence 5 times.
This coffee has dried apricot, black tea, and delicate citrus notes.
