We're Hiring a Roastery Assistant, in Portland, OR!
THE ROLE
Proud Mary is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Roastery Assistant to support our Roasting & Production teams. This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring our coffee is roasted, packed, and delivered accurately and efficiently across wholesale, online, and café channels.
You’ll play a key part in maintaining product quality, operational flow, and the overall customer experience; while contributing to a positive, safe, and inclusive workplace aligned with our values: Fun, Innovation, Relationships, and Education (FIRE).
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with roast prep, batching, and post-roast workflows
- Pack, weigh, seal, label, and prepare coffee to spec
- Operate roasting and packing equipment safely and accurately
- Fulfill wholesale, retail, café, and online orders
- Manage shipping and dispatch workflows
- Deliver coffee locally and provide great customer interactions
- Maintain consistency in product quality, packaging, and presentation
- Support basic quality control, calibration, and sensory tasks
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the roastery
- Assist with equipment care, maintenance, and safety procedures
- Support inventory management, stock rotation, and counts
- Use systems such as Cropster, Shopify, Trello, and Microsoft tools
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes
- Reliable, organized, and proactive
- Comfortable with physical work (lifting 30–40 lbs, repetitive tasks)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, digital systems)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Preferred Experience
- Experience in coffee production, roasting, warehousing, or manufacturing
- Exposure to specialty coffee, cupping, or roast profiling (training provided)
