Founded in 2015 by Aliss Hartmann, Finca Momoto is a new branch on the storied Hartmann family tree. Aliss and her four siblings spent their childhood at Finca Hartmann, where they played among the coffee trees and clambered on bags of parchment stored at the mill. As adults, each of the Hartmann children assumed various roles at Finca Hartmann, with Aliss overseeing the administrative aspects of the business. As her own children, Giuliana and Giuseppe, grew up, she wanted to provide them with a similar upbringing to her own. She acquired Finca Momoto to instill in them the importance of land, a deep respect for nature, and to share the same love and passion for coffee that her parents had imparted to her. Aliss adopts an environmentally sustainable approach to coffee production, with the majority of the coffee from Finca Momoto processed using the natural method, thus minimizing the need for significant water usage.Â
